Dear Lacqueristas,

Today I have an OPI Designer Series polish to show you. But first let me entertain you with my attempt to a free handed nailart:

OPI DS Magic with Nfu.Oh 61 for the *dots*



Glowing, sparkling. Happy blue.

Macig is a saturated, vibrant blue. There are tiny specks of hot pink in it that make this polish flash purple sometimes. A number of polishes from the OPI DS series are holographic but Magic isn't one of them. This is *just* a sparkly polish.

The formula of Magic was top notch. Yes, it did glide on like buttah. For the swatches above I applied 2 coats but in real life I probably could get away with just one.

Do I go crazy about this polish? No. Do I like it a lot? Definetly.

Dior 447 Mandarin Orange... Peachy squishy with golden sparkles

Today Dior Mandarin Orange will show her golden sparkle guts:

Tadaaaaa! Her cold hearted coolness shows! This last pic was taken inside, close to a window but no sun.

Dior 447 Mandarin Orange is a peachy pinky orange. The base color reminds me of Chanel Orange Fizz. Mandarin Orange has a lot of golden glass fleck like sparkles suspended in it's base. The good thing is that these sparkles áre notjust visible in thebottle, but come truly alive once applied on the nail. This has also to do with the fact that the formula has some squishy-ness to it. It is not a straight up jelly, but a hybrid so to say. :-p

I love polishes like this! The formula, the squishy look, the sparkles.... Ahhhh I want the summer back in my life!

OPI Fair Dinkum Pinkum

Sometimes I just wanna take a rest from all my crazy over the top polishes/nail art. I just long to a serene, clean looking polish that applies like a dream. I have found a few that just fit this bill and luckily I have found a new addition:

Fair Dinkum Pinkum. These pictures came out way cool because there was no sun. Imagine this a tad warmer. It's a pale pink with beige tones. Kinda fleshy. I'd say neutral, not warm, not cool. If you click on the pictures they get larger and you can see the semi-hidden silvery glass flecks.

Application went very well considered the polish is kinda sheer. For the swatch pics I applied 4 coats but in real life 3 will do. Super shiny, super clean looking, super flattering. In this genre one of my top picks.

China Glaze Entourage and Fly (Kicks collection)

Dear Lacqueristas,

China Glaze came out with the Kicks collection in april 2009 but only now I've bought two shades from the range. Let's start with Entourage:

A lighter lime green shade but not too vibrant or bright. There's lots of pretty glass flecks that China Glaze is so famous and loved for. A juicy, lushious nail polish if it weren't for the dissapointing formula!

I experienced cuticle drag due to the runny formula and as a side effect, the polish that I applied to my nail would slide off to the sides to leave the middle part of my nail with sheer spots. I didn't use too thick coats but this would still appear. I had to use 4 coats to achieve opacity.

I decided to take off the polish of my index finger and put China Glaze Snow as a base coat (an opaque white). On top of this I still had to finish off with 2 coats of Entourage. You can see in the swatch pics that my index looks a bit more vibrant though.
All and all I like the shade but hate the formula.


Fly
A darker fuchsia with blue undertone, leaning even towards purple. This one has tiny tiny glassflecks that sometimes appear like a flash. This is a pretty unique finish and in most lightings it appears so glossy that it reminds me of plastic, or patent. Awesome shade and awesome formula. Application went flawless, I used two coats and practically no clean-up!

Requested: comparison Chanel Mica Rose vs Catrice Just Married. Dupe? Check it out!

Dear Lacqueristas,

First of all I'd like to share with you that I got a new camera. All my previous pictures where shot with a mobile phone (a pretty good one but still!) From now on all foto's will be sharper, more color accurate and since I have a super macro setting I will be able to make super close ups to capture different finishes etc. I hope you all will enjoy the better pics!

Then now, my first requested comparison:



Chanel Mica Rose vs Catrice 210 Just Married.

Here's the close-up:

Color-wise the two polishes come pretty close but Just Married is a tiny frosted where as Mica Rose is almost jelly like to show off the multi colored glass flecks. Just Married does have some glass flecking going on but it's more subtle and not multi colored. The formula of Just married is also more opaque and streaky. To me Mica Rose is obiously the winner but if you are looking for an affordable alternative then Just Married is your polish. Pretty close, not a dupe.

Chanel Mica Rose

Meet Chanel Mica Rose:

In Spring 2009 Chanel came out with the Celestial Lights collection wich included Cosmic Violine and this beauty.

This polish has a soft pink shade with a cool undertone. The formula is pretty sheer wich is a good thing because this enables all the tiny glass flecked sparks to really shine. After three coats I still had a tiny bit of visible nail line that didn't bother me at all. The glass flecks are multicoloured in the bottle but on the nail they calm down and I only got visible pink, silver and some blue/green-ish.

I would only wear this polish on days the sun would shine because in bad light it showes like your average soft pink polish and would be a waste of potential.

In these swatches I applyed 3 coats and no topcoat. Application went smoothly and I didn't get any streakyness.

Do you know a polish similar to Mica Rose? And don't you all love Chanel make-up in general? I'm currently obsessed with the new Rouge Coco lipsticks Teheran and Cambon.
